October has been a very busy month, but full of fun! At the very end of September, Deanna flew into Madison. We spent the following day, Thursday, exploring Dodgeville. We walked down Iowa street (our main street) and went shopping. We also ate at a delicious cafe!
That evening we did an early birthday dinner for her, since her birthday was the following week when she wouldn't be there!
On Friday Deanna and I went to Gays Mills and explored the apple orchards! It was fun eating tasty food, doing the corn/sunflower maze, and exploring new places. On the way back, we stopped in Fennimore to check out these fun, older trains, and a cheese factory.
After General Conference on Saturday morning, we headed to Madison to meet up with my Dad, Mom and brother, Connor. We went through the State Capital building, ate at Ian's Pizza, and walked down State Street.
Sunday we enjoyed more of conference. We also enjoyed a walk through Dodgeville. Here is a house I think is sooo cute!
This picture is a great representation of Wisconsin during the fall--wheat fields, barns and pumpkins!
Monday we went around Mineral Point and also ate at the Grumpy Troll. Seriously, anyone that visits us will end up going to the Grumpy Troll. They have amazing burgers and fried cheese curds! mmmm.
Tuesday morning we took our four hour drive to Nauvoo. We met up with the Freemans--our babysitter from when we were little and her family. The Freemans are an amazing family and it was fun spending time with them! It was also an amazing experience to explore Nauvoo. Nauvoo is a city which the early saints of the church lived for a short time. It was so neat to see places Joseph Smith and other prophets lived and walked. It was a very spiritual trip and would love to go again!
Our babysitter and I!
My favorite part of the Nauvoo trip was going through the beautiful temple and seeing Carthage jail. Carthage jail is where Joseph Smith and his brother, Hyrum, were martyred. It was surreal to hear the story of their experience there while standing in the same room. The spirit was so strong. I know that Joseph was truly a prophet of the Lord and am grateful for the trials he and so many other saints faced in order for the Gospel to be restored on this earth!
After Nauvoo, Deanna left Wisconsin a day earlier than the rest of my family. We celebrated my mom's birthday a day early since she had a fly on her special day!
It was so much fun having my family in town!!!! I miss them but am very glad they were able to make it out to Wisconsin!
