Holiday Weekend

This past weekend was a lot of fun!! We started out with a movie on Friday with the Spencer family. It is always fun spending time with them!

On Saturday, we went on a hike with Dane and Catherine, a couple in our branch. We went to Governor Dodge State Park again, but found a new trail for this week. It was a pretty hike, though extremely hot. Overall, it was worth it facing the heat and getting to know them better.

Matt took this picture of a pretty little waterfall we saw on the way.
After the hike, we stayed at the park and cooked up some hot dogs, which seemed extra tasty after our hike.
Once we got home, I was so worn out from the heat and from not sleeping well that night, so I took a nap. Not too long later, we headed to the golf course with Neil, Amber and Preston. We hit some balls at the driving range. It felt nice to spend so much time outside in the fresh air, though I could do without the humidity and bugs.

On Monday, we went to Mineral point for the Fourth of July parade!! We drove with the Busby's and really enjoyed the small town parade.

It was much longer than we expected, but fun to see the different groups. We saw things from farm equipment, to ballerinas, to knitting groups, librarians, boy scouts, a juggler, clowns, and random people.
Like I said, random people... She was walking by herself without a sign so she might have been just having fun walking in the parade!

Just about every "float" in the parade threw candy for the kids. We were excited when someone threw out string cheese for us!!
After the parade we tried a fun restaurant--Grey Dog Deli. We ate with the Busbys and Spencers (aren't their matching outfits great?? I wish Matt would do that).
One of the many cute homes in Mineral Point.
That afternoon we headed to the Pimentel's for a BBQ/fireworks. It was so much fun chatting, eating and laughing with families/friends from our branch. We're so grateful for the opportunity we've had to get to know so many people.

Here is Ribeka and the Busby's little girl. (Isn't that apron cute??)

I loved the weekend and am grateful to live in this beautiful country!
